Well it’s been a long, long time since I’ve posted a proper update, so here goes:

MY BREAK:  I think it was poor timing on my part that I would choose to take my partial break during the holiday season.  I’ve been far too busy to fulfill my goals with the submissions of my novel.  So I’ve decided, since I’ve been “breaking” during all of December, that I will end my break the day after I post the last Grimm I wrote, which is post 39.  If my estimations are correct, my break will officially end on January 12th.  Of course, I will continue to work towards publication…and better time management as a result.  It’s been incredible that my blog has continued to have success even though I’ve written very little new material for an entire month.  I have the most amazing and supportive readers, so I consider myself extremely lucky to have all of you, and I thank you for that.

THE JOURNAL OF WALL GRIMM:  New Grimm will resume on either January 12th or 13th.  For those who are unfamiliar with Wall Grimm, he’s what I’ve just recently begun to refer to as ‘fiction by default.’  Basically he’s roughly based on me and my experiences, yet there’s a lot of fiction in the mix, so really…he’s fiction, by default.  At the top of my site is the Wall Grimm Index which has character descriptions and the posts they are mentioned in.  There’s also a list of the posts.  Since it’s written in journal format, it’s easy to jump around from post to post randomly and out of sequence as there is no rigid plot to follow.  Also there’s an interactive element described in the index if anyone would be interested in creating a character to be included in Grimm’s world.  I usually post Grimm every other day unless they fall on Saturdays.

FAY:  Fay is posted every Saturday and does contain mature themes, and some very strange if not perverted elements, plot related, not gratuitous.  There were a couple posts in there I felt compelled to apologize about, but it’s going somewhere.  I’m not sure of a timeline when Fay will end.  There is a Fay index also where you can refer to older posts, as it does have a plot to follow sequentially.

POETRY:  Once my break comes to an end, I will resume writing new poems daily.  If anyone has a topic or theme they’d like for me to write a poem about, let me know, I love to do that.  I will include your social media links, or you can make anonymous suggestions.  The same goes for Grimm.  My email is below.

AWARDS:  Here’s the toughest update to write.  While I’ve been on my “break” that was hardly noticeable I think, I’ve received many awards, which flattered me to an indescribable degree.  How much bigger can my writing ego get?  Anyway at this point, it has been a huge struggle for me to come to the decision for my blog to go award free.  I cringe as I write that, since I don’t want to seem ungrateful. Every award I’ve received has been genuinely appreciated.

I haven’t yet fulfilled my end of the awards yet, in terms of the rules and awarding other bloggers.  This is something that I plan to get to after I’m back on the blog fully.

It pains me to walk away from the awards, not for myself, but because I do not disregard the honor in the least.  It has been a significant and meaningful blogging experience.  Here are three reasons why I’ve decided to go blog free:

1.  TIME: The awards are unfortunately a little time consuming, and since my break has not given me enough time to complete my submission endeavors, and I’d like to start writing new posts for the blog, I need to fine tune my time a bit.  Eliminating the awards would help with that.

2.  FAY: I’m actually wanting to end Fay as soon as the story allows and then move onto other stories, the ideas are circulating, so I have a lot more writing I want to do.  This sort of falls into the time bit as well.

3.  GUILT:  It’s hard to keep track of all the people I’d like to award.  I’m always wondering if I missed someone, so yeah I feel guilty.  Any snubs are accidental but they still happen, so I hate that.

One reason I didn’t want to go blog free was I loved the opportunity of promoting other blogs, or finding out about other blogs from those who passed the award onto me.  So the awards have served as a doorway from one blog to the next many times and I’ve met such great people that way.  This is why I’m brainstorming an idea to replace that aspect, and we’ll see what I come up with upon my return.  I have an idea, but it’s as of yet in an infantile stage.

Ok, well that’s all for now.  Again, I thank you for your loyalty and support, your comments and thoughts, for reading my stuff, and for motivating me to write more. If you have any questions or comments that you’d rather not be public, feel free to email me anytime. sagedoyle@yahoo.com  I’m also on Twitter @sagedoyle

I hope everyone has a brilliant 2013!

Take care,

Sage
