bent and worn as it is with those memories of childhood gone and old, abrasive and stolen swept away in silence despite all the screaming shouts no louder than a whisper pain no less engaging than the fantasy of adulthood when I would be powerful and no one could hurt me ever again

Yes, it is funny how when in childhood adulthood seems like a need
Yeah a need and the illusion of the amazing ability to solve all problems and be invincible ;)
Beautifully crafted poem.
Thank you so much :)
I hope you won’t let the walls you build as defences against what happened during childhood, interfere too much with the present. I wish you wouldn’t have to go through all the pains during childhood. Despite what many dare to say, suffering and fear is not a good teacher. We can do a lot better wihtout them.
Well thank you so much, those are kind wishes and thoughts you have for me and I appreciate that, it’s very compassionate of you. But not to worry my friend, I am now that semi-invincible adult, very happy and content with life, with experiences as mostly just a collection of resources for my writing :)
great to hear!
Thank you, you’re awesome!
In reply to bert0001: Most of the world experiences childhood as fear and suffering. The world will always try to break you ‘that which it does not break it bends, but it will break you as well.’ You cannot right a wrong unless you have been wronged, and you certainly cannot write about suffering or happiness unless you’ve suffered, which is the only way you’ll recognize what happiness truly means.>KB
In reply to both of you, I’d have to say that it is a tragedy when children have to suffer, absolutely, and unfortunately it’s true, some break and never quite make it to be healthy adults. That’s a significant failing in life, when a child suffers so much, they lose both childhood and adulthood, so that doesn’t seem fair. Unfortunately suffering in various levels is a part of life, and we are all different how we evolve or stagnate as the result of trauma. For me personally, though difficult at the time and for some time afterwards, any difficulties I’ve suffered in my life are parts of me I’d never erase, because they make me who I am today. That’s me though, people don’t always feel like that, I think that is an aspect of healing. Anyway, thanks for commenting, love the conversation and philosophizing :)
I empathize with what ever you went through.>KB
Thanks so much, my friend
It spoke to me about childhood abuse…in whatever form.
You always get it Shree :) …It is about childhood abuse exactly…in whatever form.
:D to the point I got it.
Sometimes it is hard to try and look at the “big picture from the soul level” when it comes to things like abuse…especially child abuse and animal abuse too.
Very, very true. Though I was never abused as an animal so I wouldn’t know about that ;) Ah, bad joke. I’m actually a member of PETA and some Massachusetts animal rights organizations, so obvioiusly that joke isn’t coming from anywhere significant lol
LOL!!! A joke is still a joke..and I did “lol”…hehe
lol Awesome
Love this
Thank you :)
We children do not realize that we are more powerful than adults in that we can withdraw into our imaginary worlds where the corruption and power of adults does not exist nor can invade. But I realized it and at 63 still go there from time to time.
Very true Carl, very true. I go there at times myself.
