The devastation and disrespect
the ceaseless vehemence birthed and bred
fostered like a poison creeping through the veins
How much pain must we carry within
before we strike out and strike down
How much anger must we suffer
before we destroy each other with smiles on our faces
Can we not recognize our agony
and take a selfless moment to make a choice
Can we not choose to prevent ourselves
from acting upon the urge of violence
the surge of cruelty which tempts and lures us for release
Every day my heart is broken
by the voiceless who act with hands and hatred
who instill the reward and inspire like kind
and carry on in this war against their own people
