preyed upon
in this sweeping
diverted escapade of
targets of hatred
by the masses of scorned
and judged
all without understanding
and no communication
though we try
yet it is not
easy to trust
when we are
constantly betrayed
and it is true
that we don't know everything
by leadership
and wanting to cling
onto truths
that don't exist
and the hate won't end
and the violence triggers fear
shielded by fury
as we each retaliate
for wrongs
though we ought to end
and resolve
and forgive
and begin again
learning to trust
no longer vengeful
of past betrayals
we must forgive
we must trust
in order to survive
rather than to die
while endeavoring
to prove a point
or impose a manner
for existence
