They come around with all
due intentions
despite that I back away
as is my way to absolve
the darkness of my psyche
and as I glared out, it was there
staring with those endearing eyes
wilted by the innocence of skin
until it dropped, until it
broke itself upon the
evening pavements
I rushed down to see
and she attempted to open the door
though I wouldn't allow her
to jeopardize her own safety
though I couldn't prevent it
and it began to devour me
with fertile jowls, with a throat
of grain escaping, making it barren
I couldn't think of whom to beckon
as its sustenance was planted there
still roaming
along with the confused, banded bystander
while I was bleeding
and yet she never opened the door
rather it moved its way through
the closed door
