Why do authors need your book?
Marketing is part of being a writer. Regardless of how you’re published (traditionally or self-published), you will, at some point, need to do some marketing. Virtual book tours are one of the most effective methods of creating a buzz about your book and have numerous benefits. In this book I cover everything you need to know to organise and carry out a virtual book tour. Even if you decide not to do a virtual book tour, you’ll still find this book useful as it’s packed full of marketing ideas and links to resources.
What is the first thing you recommend authors do when they decide to organise a virtual book tour?
Put together a media kit. In creating a media kit you have all the information regarding your book, you as an author, and your virtual book tour, all in the one place. This makes it a useful reference tool for you, but also a valuable tool you can use during preparations for your tour. It looks professional and creates a good
impression. I also makes life easier for your hosts as they have all the
information they might need for your post all in the one place.

Excerpt from Chapter 1: What are Virtual Book Tours?
Virtual Book Tours
Book promotion has changed a lot over the years and the introduction of the internet, and with it blogs, started a revolution in how authors can reach their target audience and connect with their readers.
In the past authors would do book signings, readings, radio and television interviews, and aim at book reviews from noted publications in a hope of spreading the word about their books.
Whilst these methods are still valid in today’s market they are limited. For a start, organising such promotions is difficult especially for new authors and even more so for those self publishing. It’s true the reputation of self publishing has changed immensely in recent years and it no longer has the same stigma attached to it… that said some of the larger bookstore chains and publications still prefer to work with agents and well known traditional Publishers.
This is just one of the many reasons why virtual book tours are such a great idea. Everyone can do one. No exceptions. With a little knowledge of social media and blogging you can easily set up a virtual book tour to promote your latest release or put new life into an older project.
So what is a virtual book tour? A virtual book tour is when you tour the web over a set period of time promoting your book. (I’ll go into the different types of stops you can include in your tour later in chapter 3).
There are various ways you can set up your tour. Some authors choose to do a tour lasting anywhere from a week to a couple of months where they are hosted on different sites each day. Others prefer to do a tour that lasts for several months but only has one or two hosts per week.
Then there’s the question of content. Some are review only tours where the only type of stops on the tour are for reviews of your book. Others include a large variety of stop types and use all kinds of media and technology during their tours.
All these elements come down to your goals for the tour, the type of content you feel most comfortable doing and the amount of time you have to work on your tour.

She was the strength of breaking waves her voice echoing behind me and I recall the resilience, the battened down determination when she battled her beliefs, which by the way were selfless, by her way she endured as she was a fury, an arduous crone a beautiful beast with the steps of many men, come home, I call to her you've gone and it has evolved slowly like a lurking enemy you've gone and there is no manner by which you would come home come home my gracious lady your phantom presence taunts me and I miss you
I anguish like the screaming morn molested by darkness, plodding ahead it spreads its body open and releases the holler of dawn, flames which sustain and destroy the trepidation of my approach provoked as if colossal corpses of bloodied trees putrefy ahead as I draw on, barring me, upon my smoldered steps, I am destitute
Since I’m on this kick of supporting other writers, and I happen to be a huge animal rights activist, I had to reblog this one…
Each of the books I’ve written is about justice, peace and/or kindness amid the most adverse circumstances. Most of my books feature amazing and beautiful animals, both wild and domestic. I am very passionate about the beauty of our Mother Earth and about her animals being treated with respect and care they deserve.
THE EARTH SHIFTER features one of the miracles of Lake Baikal – its endemic seals (Nerpa), Siberian Bear, wolves, White Eagle, as well as the majestic Siberian Tiger; both STEPFORD USA and GOLD TRAIN feature rescued super-intelligent and heroic cats and dogs; and even my sci-fi novelette CATHARSIS includes a note of warning against cruelty and about the need for animal protection and preservation.
For a while, I’ve been considering donating profits from my book sales to a no-kill animal shelter and animal rescue in New York State, USA and in Siberia, Russia. I’ve done some research…

I’ve made a choice to support my fellow writers whenever possible. And here’s how….
I’ve been thinking about what it takes to get published, and how complicated it can be to self-promote once you have a book in circulation. Personally, I have a hard time with self-promotion, since I’m kind of shy. I’d rather be the reclusive writer, just put my words out there, completely detached from my self as a person. This is one of the reasons why a penname suits me. So there are some people who cringe at the thought of doing promotional leg work. There are others who have that dynamic enthusiasm and are willing to put themselves out there. Either way, you’re welcome to promote here.
As some of you know, I’ve just started Facebook. People in my real life have been hounding me forever to do it, but I’m stubborn. They didn’t actually win the fight though, since 99.999753% of the people in my real life don’t even know I’m Sage Doyle. The writing community did win. And as I grow to appreciate certain aspects about Facebook, making lots of mistakes along the way, I’m seeing many writers aching for their voices to be heard, or for their names to be recognized, or to simply share within a circle of comrades of like-mindedness. Writers are peculiar creatures after all.
During all this speculation, I began to wish I could support other writers more, since it’s not just a one way street in the end. Unfortunately, it’s financially impossible for me to purchase every single book that seems like a good read. Instead, I decided to open up my blog for people to promote their books if they want. You can just send me a review, an excerpt, whatever it is that you’d like to put out there and get a little more exposure, and I’ll post it on my blog.
Let me express this disclaimer:
*Just because I post it, doesn’t mean I read it.
*My promotion of it, doesn’t mean that I’m promoting the content, it means I’m supporting a fellow writer.
*I may choose to avoid posting some material, if it goes against a personal moral standpoint.
I’m very open-minded, but ethical.
That said, send what you want to me, if you feel compelled. I’ve made this kind of offer before, but I find that bloggers are very humble. I think the facebookers are a little more willing to put themselves out there, myself excepted. I could be wrong, but we’ll see.
So email me if you think I might be able to help you a little. email@example.com
In time I know it is to come this reason and indefinable end a march until the season's done the forthcoming amends And yet I question the worth of all my pressure bated and spent while I pace and scatter and brace and crawl into my own foreseen descent But that is not how I view the chance contrary to my precarious fate as I devour the mold and approach advance it is against my nature to hesitate Don't bleed me of my waking day in order to prove your admonition because I will have the final say to wrought the forced submission But never mind this corrupting stock you won't succumb to admission while I scorn and mock and resent and balk your meaningless ambition
